During the recent High Holidays we
raised more than $20,000 for the
Harry Chapin Food Bank!
Each month we hold a birthday party for
Sunrise Community. Sunrise is a day care and training facility for
physically and mentally handicapped adults. We know many of the clients
by name and they know us. The monthly party is a high light for them and
for our Temple participants.
On Tuesday evening January
30, 2007, Temple Shalom will be hosting an Awards Banquet in honor of the
clients of the Sunrise Community. The Sunrise Community is a non profit
agency that cares for developmentally compromised adults. For those clients
whose conditions allow, they provide the training needed for these people to
be gainfully employed. Many of the clients work in Publix, Albertsons and
the Ritz Carlton. The Awards Banquet honors them with a certificate of
appreciation for the work that they do. It's their "Academy Awards:"
evening and Temple Shalom is blessed to have this opportunity for us to be
part of the inspiring event.
Temple Shalom’s Social Action Committee
also supports the Immokalee Friendship House in many ways. We collect
clothing for them in addition to other support.
