Shalom! As we move into the
hustle and bustle of season and get swept up in the fast
pace of schedules and activities, we often need to be
reminded of those people who bring the calm back into our
lives. It is with great gratitude that I introduce you to
four teachers of long-standing and dedicated service to our
children at Temple Shalom:
Batina Houghtaling,
formerly Batina Cooke, has been teaching Kindergarten in our
Sunday school for the past 16 years. She was educated at Purdue
University where she studied Child Development. Batina has
three children: her son, Jostin (20) is attending Florida Gulf
Coast University, and stepsons, Alex (14) attends Corkscrew
Middle School in the 8th grade and Adam (20) is the
lighting engineer for a local music group. During the week she
works hard as a retail manager.
