Bikes for
Tykes, Inc. in conjunction with Collier County
Alternative Education and the Collier County Drill
Academy, will introduce a program designed as an
introduction to mechanics, which would also teach a
vocation skill of bicycle repair. This program may
offer employment opportunities as we see the reality
of the Florida Gulf Coast University. The university
will spawn a number of bicycle shops opening as the
concept of the university is said to limit the the
number of automobiles on campus.
Upon
completion of the 'DRILL' program, individuals would
be able to complete their community service hours at
the workshop of Bikes for Tykes, Inc. BFT,Inc. will
then provide certificates of proficiency in bicycle
repair which will be of significant value in
achieving employment in the bicycle industry.
The DRILL BIKE
PROGRAM will be monitored by Alternative Education
and the teaching guidelines will be evaluated at the
end of each term. Changes can then be made to enhance
the program at that time. The completed bikes will go
into the inventory of Bikes For Tykes, Inc. to be
distributed to the under privileged children of
Southwest Florida.
